Steps Toward Finding A Job
Inform friends and relatives who know your skills that you are seeking employment.
Approach personnel departments. Arrange for interviews to determine your career choices and make contacts.
Review newspapers to learn about local companies- thier products and procerdures. Determine what you can offer these companies.
Check the yellow pages and the classified ads in your area.
Use the Internet to serach for jobs.
Research jobs at your local public library, community college, or high school career center.
Be creative- gain experience and develop new skills by volunteering.
Learn about job opportunitities and develop contacts by attending community meetings.
Interviewing Preparations & Tips
Preparations:
Learn something about the company
Have a specific job in mind
Review your qualifications for the job
Be prepared to answer broad questions about yourself, your interests, and qualifications
Be prepared to ask meansingful questions
Practice mock interviews
Type a resume to bring to the interview
Take a blue/black ink pen
Bring copies of certificates of related training and letters of reference
During the Interview:
Be neat and well groomed
Dress appropriately
Remember good posture and eye contact
Be on time... arrive early preferably
Answer questions directly and truthfully
Be well-mannered
Use proper grammar
Be enthusiastic and cooperative
Show a sincere interest in the company
Speak up
Always thank the interviewer for his/her time
Keeping A Job
Know and follow company rules and regulations
Get along with your employer and your co-workers
Give a full day's work for a full day's pay
Be on time for work- this includes breaks and lunch
If you must be absent from your job, call your supervisor beforehand
Follow directions accurately- take notes if needed
Be responsible for you actions. If you make a mistake or don't know something admit it and ask questions.
Always communicate in a positive way and remember that your behavior talks- so SMILE
